Your workday stays on your Mac — always.
Pausebar is designed to help you take healthier screen breaks without turning your habits, apps, calls, or focus time into a cloud profile.
This policy explains how Pausebar handles information in the Mac app and on pausebar.app. The short version: the app is local-first, does not require an account, and does not include product analytics or tracking.
What the app keeps locally
Pausebar stores your preferences and break history on your Mac so the app can remember your rhythm and show local stats such as screen time, breaks taken, longest stretch, and Rest Score.
- Break schedules, reminder settings, snooze limits, sounds, and appearance choices.
- Deep-focus apps and Smart Pause settings you choose.
- Local break stats used to show your day back to you.
What Pausebar does not collect
Pausebar does not record your screen, listen to your microphone, capture your camera, read your documents, inspect browser content, or upload your break habits to a server.
- No account is required to use the app.
- No app analytics, ad tracking, or marketing pixels are built into the app.
- Smart Pause uses local yes/no macOS signals, not the contents of your work.
Smart Pause signals
To avoid bad interruptions, Pausebar may check local signals such as fullscreen state, active camera or call state, screen sharing, video playback, screenshots in progress, selected deep-focus apps, or build/test/deploy command names. These checks are used on-device to decide whether to hold a break.
Pausebar does not store call audio, camera video, screenshots, window contents, browser pages, or command output.
Purchases and licenses
Purchases are processed by Polar, the payment provider. Pausebar does not store your card details. Polar may process information needed for checkout, tax, receipts, fraud prevention, and refunds.
When you buy, we store — in our own database — your email, order details, the optional “how did you hear about us” answer, the channel you arrived from, and whether you opted in to product updates. We use this to issue and validate your license, provide support, handle refunds, and send you a one-time welcome email to help you get started. Further product emails go out only if you opted in at checkout — there are no tracking pixels or advertising profiles.
Website, waitlist, and support email
The marketing website is static and requires no login. To see what’s working, it counts aggregate page views, referrers, and anonymous button clicks (such as Download) using cookieless, privacy-friendly analytics — no cookies, no IP address stored, no personal profiles, and no cross-site tracking. This is the website only; the Pausebar app itself stays completely on-device and sends no analytics. The pre-launch waitlist is closed; if you joined it, the email address you gave is used only for launch-related announcements and can be removed on request. If you email support, the information you send is used to respond to your request.
Your choices
You can delete local app data from your Mac, request removal from the waitlist, or email support to ask about purchase records connected to your license.
